 Would you like to have an Icelandic text translated from or into English? Or perhaps from or into French, Danish, German or some other language? We form a network of experienced, well-educated professionals who hopefully offer exactly the Icelandic skills and services you want. Regarding Iceland's language and characteristics, we strive to be experts and are eager to help. Generally, we produce texts only in our respective mother tongues. No corners are cut on proper expression, and we are open to consultation with our customers, to make sure their wishes are met.

Particularly in Icelandic, English and German, many of us also have long experience in checking over and improving already existing texts. We should be able to assist you with any text you have, regardless of whether it deals with science, commerce, law or other affairs.

 For added quality, we read over the majority of each other's texts, especially in the three languages just named. This helps to prevent mistakes and ensure the best possible style and choice of words. In English our colleagues have varying backgrounds, so the wording and other aspects can be tailored to a specific audience or a broad international target.

Quality Policy

Lingua strives to provide every client with texts of the highest quality – texts that are grammatically correct, sound appropriate in context, and reflect the specialised vocabulary of the field. The following working practices help provide consistent quality for our clients:

Staff

Our translators and proofreaders are without exception university-educated and experienced in preparing general as well as specialised texts for publication. Lingua’s other staff are also well educated and highly skilled.

 

Translations

We work with translators of varying specialisations and seek to direct every project to the most appropriate person. In cases where translators are not translating into their native language, the resulting texts are always read over by qualified associates for whom the language is their mother tongue.

 

Technology

All of the company’s equipment and software fulfil the latest requirements. Our main translators use computerised translation programs to increase efficiency, reduce the risk of human error and maintain consistency. Online resources are utilised to search for up-to-date information on specialised vocabulary and normal usage.

 

Collaboration

In an effort to find the most precise translations for particular concepts, we seek collaboration with professional associates and other translators as well as with the client. We are open to suggestions, even after the text has been delivered, and will gladly clarify any problematic points. While we will certainly also make corrections if necessary, our goal is to ensure that such changes are never required.

 

Proofreading

We usually aim for someone other than the translator to read over a text before its delivery to the client. Almost without exception, the original translator then also has the opportunity to go over the edited text and help guarantee that specialised vocabulary and fluency are maintained.

 

Confidentiality

Lingua treats all information confidentially. On starting to work for us, associates are required to sign a confidentiality agreement.
